Nutritional Sound Logic of Enzymes
by Dr. DicQie Fuller

People who eat a diet void of enzymes will exhaust a tremendous amount of their own enzyme potential. This deference can be one of the major differences between good health and illness. Life cannot and does not exist without enzymes because they are needed for every chemical reaction that takes place in our body. Enzymes are catalysts and are connected to every working organ in our body. Everything we ingest, food, vitamins, and minerals need enzymes to be delivered within the body. This means that you could be eating the best of food and taking vitamins and minerals but without the proper enzymes they are not being broken down or delivered properly.

Cooking and processing of food destroys their natural enzymes and this leads to proteins that putrefy, carbohydrates that ferment, fats that turn rancid within our body. Even fiber builds a gel like matrix hindering nutrient absorption. It is my personal belief that a lack of enzymes can cause illness through lower resistance, stress of all types and physiological environments that can lead to a shortened life span. By supplementing cooked foods with natural plant enzymes, we can stop or at least slow down this abnormal and pathological aging process. A new book on enzymes written by three prestigious medical doctors titled "Enzymes, The Fountain of Life," states that a lack of enzymes is the cause of every major disease of the human body.

Each plant enzyme has a separate specific action. They break down the following foods: protease for protein, lipase for fat, amylase for carbohydrates and starches, cellulase for fiber, lactase for dairy, sucrase and maltase for refined and malt sugars. When taken with food, they assist in the digestion. It has been proven that 80% of our body's energy go into digestion of food. Enzyme supplementation allows the body to use its own metabolic enzymes to rebuild cells rather than spending a great deal of its life's energy in trying to digest food.

These miracle enzymes deliver nutrients, carry away toxic debris, digest food, purify the blood, and deliver hormones. In addition, they assist in balancing cholesterol and triglycerides, feed the brain and have no toxic side effects because they are a natural plant food.

Food allergies for some are no more than the inability to break down a specific food and the result is toxic reaction. Enzymes have been used successfully and simply in meeting this need.

An adequate supply of enzymes is absolutely essential for keeping the skin looking young and healthy. According to researchers Amber Ackerson and Anthony Cichoke in Portland, Oregon, enzymes fight the aging process by increasing the blood supply to the skin, bringing with is life-giving nutrients and carrying away waste products that can make your skin and look dull and wrinkled.

Our need for enzyme supplementation becomes greater with age. According to Dr. Edward Howell in his book "Enzyme Nutrition," he likens our enzymes to a bank account. When we are born we have an enzyme account and as we age, we make numerous withdrawals and fewer deposits. The withdrawals are seen in eating cooked and processed foods, mental stress, colds and fevers, travel, smoke, living in environmental impurities, pregnancy and the list goes on. The deposits are eating food in which enzymes are present to help kin digestion plus healthy thoughts. Since our topsoil is now depleted and our food at best is lacking nutrients the addition of supplemental enzymes is becoming a necessity.

Enzyme therapy is my life's work. From my own private practice to the education of other health practitioners I believe it to be the most rewarding and life changing of anything offered in nutrition today.
