There are so many enzyme products in the stores!
How can we compare the differences?
- First read the label and you will notice if they are plant or animal enzymes. Then ask yourself,
"Are they just making claims to having an enzyme ability or is it possible that processing, some
handling, heating and/or friction of food has destroyed the enzyme action?"
- Animal enzymes, or pancreatic enzymes are from the ground up pancreas of a slaughterhouse animal.
How does anyone know the condition of the animal before it was slaughtered?
- Pancreatic enzymes tend to claim high unit amounts, such as 31,500 units of protease. However,
this amount, or unit of measurement, does not indicate the actual enzyme activity level. 31,500
units of protease will yield a level of only 356 units of digestive activity. Compare this to
hundreds of thousands of actual protease activity in Transformationâ plant derived enzymes. Enzyme
effectiveness depends on activity not weight.
- Transformationâ products are based on the Food Chemical Codex (FCC). These are the codes
accepted by the FDA. Not all manufactures use FCC units as you will immediately notice. Some of
their measurements are just made up from their company names. Transformation enzymes are derived
from a food source and therefore governed by the FDA. The appropriate codes are as follows:
| Protease |
HUT |
Hemoglobin Unit Tyrosine Base |
| Amylase |
DU |
Alpha-Amylase Dextrinizing Units |
| Lipase |
LU |
Lipase Unit |
| Cellulase |
CU |
Cellulase Unit |
| Invertase |
IAU |
Invertase Activity Unit |
| Lactase |
LacU |
Lactase Unit |
| Maltase |
DP |
Degrees Diastatic Power |
- Don't forget about the importance of the pH balance. Pancreatin requires an 8.0 pH to be of
use in the system. The human body reaches this 8.0 pH in the small intestine after major digestion
takes place. Enzymes are only active in the environment they are formulated in. Transformationâ plant
enzymes have the capability to work between 3 and 9 pH. They are blended as neutral, alkaline and
acidic to cover all concerns in our formulations. This means they work throughout the entire
digestive tract and the blood.
- Recognize how often a lesser effective enzyme is used. Sad to say, commercial grade enzymes
(the least expensive, less purer grade) may be used rather than our therapeutic grade which are
purer and stronger. Commercial grades are also usually measured in 'mg'. Transformation enzymes
contain the highest activity units on the market today with ABSOLUTELY NO FILLERS.
